Welcome

Welcome to the Down & Dirty Composition Blog. This blog will provide expert advice as well as cross institutional peer interaction to cope with the myriad challenges presented to the first year writing student. Why is it "Down & Dirty?" The everyday student is sleep deprived, over-caffeinated and overworked. You are reading this blog instead of writing your paper, which is likely due tomorrow, if not sooner. You have a vague statement from your teacher like, "strengthen thesis" or "transitions?" What do these mean and how can you make them work before the Red Bull wears out?

The Down & Dirty Composition Blog will give you the fast and dirty way to fix a thesis, add evidence, find your motive and stimulate the economy of your grade.

Who are we?

Kat G. - Kat teaches first year composition at Emerson College and has recently earned the coveted chili pepper award on Rate My Professor. She excels at visual design, witty banter and locating logical fallacies.

Anne - Anne also teaches first year comp at Emerson College. You will find that she is very much like Kat G. save for her penchant for self-deprecating humor and rambling mixed metaphors. Were she to excel at something it would be over complicating simple endeavors.

Kara Mae
- Kara Mae spends her time teaching first year composition at Emerson College. Also known as K-Mae, she possesses an incredible sense of style and 5-part structure. When not teaching, she can be found watching taped ultimate fighting matches or sorting her papers.
